Ms Cosmo – Biography, Real Name, Age and Career

Nonqaba Nozuko Rwaxa, known professionally as Ms Cosmo, is a South African DJ, radio personality, MC, podcaster, music producer, and singer. Born on April 20, 1988, she gained recognition for hosting “The Trap House” and “The Stir Up” on 5FM. She also made history as the first female DJ to join Channel O’s DJ music show, “The Bassment.”

Early Life

Born in Diepkloof, Soweto, Ms Cosmo who is now 38-years of age, spent her early years there before moving to the northern suburbs of Johannesburg at the age of six. Influenced by her cousin, she developed a deep love for hip-hop. She attended Bryanston Primary School and Bryanston High School before pursuing a degree in BCom Finance and Investment Management at the University of Johannesburg.

Career

After graduating, Ms Cosmo worked as a commercial property finance consultant at a bank, but her passion for music led her to enroll at FUSE Academy to pursue DJing. This decision opened doors for her to perform alongside major international artists, such as Kanye West, Chris Brown, 2 Chainz, Kendrick Lamar, and Chance The Rapper during their South African tours.

In 2012, she joined YFM as a YTKO DJ, where she performed live mixes weekly. She made history in 2013 by becoming the first and only female DJ to join Channel O’s DJ music show, “The Bassment.” The following year, she also became a presenter on 5FM, hosting the weekly hip-hop show “The Stir Up.”

Ms Cosmo’s music career took off in 2017 with the release of her debut single “Connect,” featuring Nasty C, Rouge, and Kwesta. The track hit the number one spot on the 5FM & YFM Charts. In July 2020, she launched her online podcast, “SHE Social Podcast,” which focuses on women in various artistic fields like fashion, music, and art. Later that year, she released singles “Baningi” with Sho Madjozi, Dee Koala, and Nelisiwe Sibiya, and “Bhuti,” featuring Boity and Moonchild Sanelly.
