Da Capo – Biography, Real Name, Age and Career

Nicodimas Sekheta Mogashoa, known professionally as Da Capo, is a South African DJ and record producer. His stage name comes from an Italian musical term. Born and raised in Seshego, he gained recognition after remixing Moneoa’s song Pretty Disaster. This success led him to sign a recording deal with Soulstic Music.

In 2017, he released his debut studio album, Indigo Child, which achieved double platinum status according to the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA). In an interview with The Playground, he shared that his musical journey was influenced by artists like Jimpster, Nick Holder, and Quinton Harris.

Early Life and Age

Nicodimas Sekheta Mogashoa was born on August 14, 1992, in Zone 3 of Seshego township, Polokwane, South Africa. After finishing high school, he enrolled at the University of Limpopo to study media and communication but later dropped out.

His musical journey started with rap before he developed a passion for house music. As of 2025, Da Capo is 33 years old.

Career

After signing a record deal with Soulstic Music, Da Capo released his debut album, Indigo Child, on December 8, 2017, in South Africa. The album featured artists such as GoodLuck, Berita, Wanda Baloyi, Jackie Queens, Renee Thompson, Soulsta, Miss Dippy, Tshepo King, and Darian Crouse. It was a major success, earning double platinum certification and surpassing 36.5 million streams on digital platforms.

He later founded his independent record label, Genesys Entity, and in May 2020, he dropped an EP titled Genesys, with Moyo Wanagu featuring BATUND as the lead single. The following year, on September 3, 2021, he was featured alongside Sun-El Musician on Light House, a track by TRESOR. Towards the end of 2021, he collaborated with Gallo to remix Imbizo, which was part of the compilation album Music is Forever, released on December 17.

In 2023, he returned with Molili, featuring Batundi, Nana Atta, and Lokua Kanza. Released on June 23 as the lead single for his Bakone EP, the song climbed to No. 29 on the Phalaphala FM Top 30 Chart. Bakone officially dropped on July 14, blending afro-house, afro-tech, and deep house sounds. The project included collaborations with Batundi, Nana Atta, Lokua Kanza, and Da Africa Deep. On the same day, Apple Music featured Da Capo as the cover star for Sghubhu.

In February 2024, he expanded his discography with two new albums: Indigo Child II and Aquatone Cotton Fabric.
