His exceptional production skills earned him the Producer of the Year award at the South African Hip Hop Awards in 2021.

Early Life

Zoocci Coke Dope was born on November 25, 1994. He lost his father at the age of 16, though he recalls that their relationship was not very strong. After his father’s passing, he was raised by his mother in Pretoria alongside his younger sister.

Understanding the financial strain on his mother, Zoocci made the difficult decision to drop out of his studies to lighten her burden, especially since his sister was also attending the same school. During this time, he fully dedicated himself to his passion for music, with his mother being a strong pillar of support.

He initially pursued sound engineering at a South African university but left after a year, feeling that the structured education was holding him back. Realizing that he could build a career in sound production without a degree, he focused on honing his skills, which ultimately led to his rise in the music industry.

Career

Zoocci Coke Dope is a self-taught musician from Pretoria who began producing beats at just ten years old. Around that time, he created his first album using FL Studio, laying the foundation for his music career. Known for crafting rap hooks and songs for various artists, his passion for music was evident from the start. This drive led him to study sound engineering, but he dropped out after a year, believing he could advance his skills without formal education.

Despite leaving school, Zoocci remained committed to his dream of producing music. Reports suggest that his decision was partly influenced by his desire to ease the financial burden on his mother so that his younger sister could continue her education. With his mother’s unwavering support, he vowed never to let his family down.

His career took off when he started working with local artists using Fruity Loops Studio. Determined to go professional, he connected with South African rapper Die Mondez, and together they produced Morning Star, a project that brought him recognition. Another breakthrough came when he produced Freedom or Fame, which helped open doors in the industry.

Zoocci gained widespread fame after producing the beat for Big Star Johnson’s Just to Flex, the theme song for the rap reality show The Hustle. As his reputation grew, major artists like Stogie T began reaching out to collaborate with him.

Now 30 years old, Zoocci continues to make music through his independent record label, PIFF Audio. Beyond producing, he mentors up-and-coming artists, helping them refine their sound and release quality music.
